  • Getting to know works constitution law as the right of the works council
  • Differentiation from individual labor law: What is the difference?
  • Understanding the interplay between national law and EU law
  • Familiarize yourself with laws and commentaries
  • Works council office as an honorary position: Knowing protective rights and prohibitions of discrimination
  • Leave of absence and continued remuneration - what do I need to consider?
  • Works council work outside of working hours: avoiding disadvantages
  • Knowing how: Effectively enforce your training entitlement
  • Organization in the committee: forming committees and establishing rules of procedure
  • Know the rights and duties of the works council chairperson
  • Holding works council meetings and consultation hours correctly
  • Passing legally effective resolutions in the committee
  • Costs and material expenses: What does the employer have to pay?
  • Monitoring the employer in the implementation of laws
  • Advocating for the compatibility of family and work

According to the Federal Labor Court, the knowledge imparted in this seminar is essential for comprehensive preparation for the mandate as a works council (see BAG of 21.04.1983 - 6 ABR 70/82). Every works council member is therefore obliged, according to the BAG, to acquire this knowledge (cf. BAG v. 05.11.1981 - 6 ABR 50/79). This seminar is required in accordance with § 37 Para. 6 Works Constitution Act. The obligation to bear the costs arises from § 40 Para. 1 Works Constitution Act. This also applies to substitute members who temporarily replace a works council member who is unable to attend (BAG of May 15, 1986 - 6 ABR 64/83).

This seminar is also required for the representative body for severely disabled employees in accordance with § 179 Para. 4 social security code nine, as constructive cooperation of the representative body for severely disabled employees in the works council requires basic knowledge of works constitution law.
